Bird Flu Protection with Masks

Masks can be first line of defense for many people world wide. Even though they don't protect 100% of time from catching a flu, they can be very good as preventive measures.
US Government is stockpiling masks in case of major outbreak of flu in the US. These steps are being criticized though by medical community that point to a limited effectiveness of masks from any sort of flu. They argue that masks can give false sense of security and people will be less attentive to sick people around them and have a greater chance of being infected with he virus.
Even though many in medical community see it as limited preventive measure they would not rule out use of masks completely yet. "We don't want to say, don’t use it,' but don't expect to be fully protected if you do use it." said Doctor. Donald Burke a professor at Johns Hopkins University (International health). Many doctors who are wearing masks doing it as a measure not to infect weak patients.
Masks should not be reused then and if pandemic strikes. Despite bleak outlook of mask use against bird flu or any other major flu outbreak, US government stockpiled 150,000,000 masks already and continues to do so.
